Humpback Whale

Watch a sea otter swimming near your kayak and listen to Humpback whales as they spout their misty spray, or see puffins, eiders, and cormorants flying overhead and be awakened to oyster catchers calling noisily in the early morning. Starfish, jellyfish and sea anemones await you in the tide pools and animal trails beckon your passage through towering forests of Sitka spruce. Some of the best areas for beach combing, hiking, and marine life observation including whales and sea lion rookeries are included in this program. Sample Programs

Kayak Travel 101

We begin with a group orientation to the area with initial rope course activities. Our kayak experience then starts with a pool orientation to practice kayak safety and learn paddling techniques. We will spend five days kayaking in the Kachemak Bay area observing the rich marine life around us and learning more about the area while camping at our nearby base camps. No prior kayaking experience is necessary, as the course is oriented for people who may have never been in a kayak before.

Intermediate to Advanced Kayaking

Fly-in Trip for Advanced Wilderness Skill Development

We will travel into a remote wilderness area by float plane taking what skills we learned in the basic course and utilizing them in a special area where there is a real abundance of wildlife to track, observe, and photograph. We will practice our camping and nature observation skills, foraging for food and learning to interact with the environment in harmony. We will be hiking and kayaking in some of the most beautiful areas of the world. For seven to fourteen days, we will share the experience of a lifetime.
